Scrap car collection in Corby, start to finish
Scrap car collection in Corby should be simple, and with us it is. You tell us the registration and postcode, we give you a price, and when you accept we arrange to come and get the car. There is no charge for collection, and you are paid by bank transfer at the moment we take the car.
We are a Corby business. Our trucks are kept in town, so a call from Lodge Park or Beanfield is the kind of job we do every week.

How the collection works
- Go to our instant price page and enter your reg and Corby postcode.
- The price appears on screen straight away.
- Accept the price, add your name, phone number and email, and we ring you to agree a collection time that suits you.
- We arrive, check your ID and the car, and load it onto the truck.
- We pay you by bank transfer before we leave.
If anything about the car is different from what you told us, for example the catalytic converter has been taken off, we explain the change before we load. You can say no, and there is no obligation.
Where in Corby can you collect from?
Anywhere you can reasonably get a truck near. We collect from driveways in Danesholme, roadsides in Kingswood, car parks in the town centre, and garages, yards and business premises around Earlstrees and Oakley Hay. Shared car parks on newer Oakley Vale streets are fine too, as long as the car is not blocked in.
Our trucks come from our sister company, Rapid Recovery Corby, and include beavertail tilt-and-slide transporters and spec lift tow trucks. Some can carry one car and tow another, so if you have two cars to clear from the same address, say so and we can often take both in one visit.
How much will I get for my scrap car in Corby?
We do not quote set figures, because scrap car prices move with the scrap metal market. Your price is worked out from:
| Factor | Effect on your price |
|---|---|
| Weight of the vehicle | Scrap is priced per tonne, so heavier cars are worth more |
| Current scrap metal price | Rises and falls with the market |
| Make and model | Some models are worth more than their weight alone |
| Completeness | Engine, gearbox, catalytic converter and wheels all count |
| Keys and V5C | Having both helps |
| Location | Where the car is collected from |
Our scrap car collection cost guide goes into more detail, and how scrap car prices work explains the market side.
Before we arrive
A little preparation saves time on the day:
- Empty the glovebox, door pockets, boot and the well under the spare wheel.
- Take out dashcams, sat navs and any parking permits.
- Cancel toll or parking accounts linked to the registration.
- If you want to keep a private plate, transfer or retain it with the DVLA before we collect. Once the car is scrapped, the plate is lost.
- Have your photo ID, proof of address and V5C ready.
After the car has gone
Your car goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility. The ATF issues a Certificate of Destruction, normally within 7 days, and tells the DVLA. Any full months of vehicle tax left are refunded automatically once the DVLA is notified. Remember to cancel your insurance yourself.
Keep the yellow slip from the V5C, the part for selling to the motor trade, along with the Certificate of Destruction. Our step-by-step guide on how to scrap a car covers the paperwork in full.
Is it a non-runner, an MOT failure or a van?
If your car will not start, see our non-runner collection in Corby page. If it has just failed its test, selling an MOT failure in Corby may be more relevant. For vans, go to scrap van collection in Corby. We also collect scrap cars just outside town, including scrap car collection in Weldon and scrap car collection in Stanion.

Questions people ask
Is scrap car collection in Corby really free?
Yes. Collection is free anywhere in Corby, and the price we agree is the amount paid to you by bank transfer.
Do I need to be there when you collect my car?
Yes, someone needs to be there so we can check photo ID and proof of address, as the law requires, and pay the seller by bank transfer.
Can you collect two scrap cars from the same Corby address?
Often, yes. Some of our trucks carry one car and tow a second, so tell us when you book and we will plan for both.
What if my car is not quite as described when you arrive?
We explain any difference before we load, such as a missing catalytic converter, and give you the revised price. You can say no.
Will I get a tax refund after scrapping my car?
Yes. Once the DVLA knows the car has been scrapped, any full months of vehicle tax left are refunded to you automatically.
Can I keep my private number plate?
Yes, but you must transfer or retain it with the DVLA before we collect. Once the car is scrapped, the plate cannot be recovered.
