Sell your damaged car without the runaround
After an accident there is enough to deal with. Insurers, garages, paperwork and getting around without a car. If your car is damaged and you do not want to fix it, selling it for scrap takes one problem off the list. We buy accident damaged cars, write-offs and flood damaged cars across Corby and Kettering, collect them free and pay you by bank transfer.
You can search for accident damaged car buyers all day. What matters is that the buyer can actually move the car, does the paperwork properly and pays you legally.

What kind of damage do you buy?
- Accident damage: front-end, rear-end and side impacts, whether the car still drives or not.
- Insurance write-offs you kept: buy-backs in Cat S, Cat N and Cat B.
- Flood damage: cars that have been through deep water on a low road or were parked where water collected.
- Other damage that makes the car not worth repairing.
If the car is in pieces, stripped or missing major parts, tell us when you get your price so it reflects the car as it is.
What do the write-off categories mean?
| Category | What it means |
|---|---|
| Cat A | Must be crushed entirely |
| Cat B | Body shell must be crushed, some parts can be salvaged |
| Cat S | Structural damage, can be repaired and returned to the road |
| Cat N | Non-structural damage, can be repaired |
If your insurer wrote the car off and you kept it as a buy-back, you can still scrap it with us. Many people keep a Cat S or Cat N car intending to fix it, then find the repair costs more than expected. Our guide on scrap or repair may help you decide.
How to sell a damaged car
- Enter your reg and postcode on our instant price page.
- See your price on screen straight away. No contact details needed.
- Accept it if it suits you, and add your name, phone number and email.
- George calls to book a free collection at a time that suits you. Tell him about the damage and anything missing then. A few photos on WhatsApp help.
- We collect and pay by bank transfer, once we have checked your ID.
The price stands as long as the car is complete and as described. If something is different on the day, we explain before we load and you can say no.
Can you move a car that is badly damaged?
Yes. Damaged cars often have a wheel pushed back, a flat tyre or a front end that will not steer. Our collections are done with our own recovery trucks from Rapid Recovery Corby, including beavertail transporters with winches, spec lift tow trucks and a van with dollies and skates. If a wheel will not turn, we put a dolly under it. Some trucks carry one car and tow a second, which is handy if you have more than one car to clear.
If the car has a lot of loose panels or glass, tell us so we can secure it properly.
How much is a damaged car worth for scrap?
A scrap price is based mainly on weight and the current scrap metal price, with make, model, completeness, keys, V5C and location also counting. Body damage does not remove much weight. Missing parts, such as the engine, gearbox, catalytic converter or wheels, matter more.
Our damaged car cost guide explains how damage, write-off status and flooding affect a price. For background, read how scrap car prices work. For your actual figure, get your instant price.
Flood damaged cars
Some of the villages around Corby sit on low roads in the Welland valley and along the River Ise, and cars get caught out after heavy rain. Water in the engine, electrics and interior often makes a car uneconomic to repair. We buy flood damaged cars and collect them from wherever they are. See damaged cars in Great Easton and Caldecott for the valley villages.
Damaged car collection across our area
We collect damaged cars from driveways, roadsides, car parks, garages and garage forecourts, farms and business premises. Garages holding a damaged car for a customer can contact us too. Local pages include damaged cars in Corby, Kettering and Desborough. Find your town or village on the areas page.
Should I fix it or scrap it?
A Cat N car with light damage may be worth repairing, especially if you can do some of the work yourself. A Cat S car needs structural repairs done properly, and costs can climb once panels come off. Flood damage is often worse than it looks, because water gets into wiring and electronics. Get a repair quote, compare it with the car's value once fixed, and then get your instant price to see the other side of the decision.
Paperwork for a damaged car or write-off
By law we check the seller's name and address, so have photo ID and proof of address ready. Hand over the V5C if you have it and keep the yellow slip. If you no longer have it, you can still sell with proof of ID and ownership. Our guide on scrapping a car without a logbook explains how.
The car goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility, which issues a Certificate of Destruction and tells the DVLA. Keep the certificate. Any full months of tax are refunded automatically, and you should cancel the insurance yourself. Read our guide on the Certificate of Destruction for more.
Before we come, clear out your belongings, including dashcams, which you may need for your claim, sat navs and parking permits. If you want to keep a private plate, transfer or retain it with the DVLA first.
Damaged cars and your insurer
If you are still in a claim, check with your insurer before you sell. If the insurer has already paid out and you kept the car as a buy-back, the car is yours to sell. If the claim is still open, the insurer may want to inspect the car or may expect to take it themselves. We cannot advise on your policy, but it is worth a quick call to them before you accept a scrap price.
Keep any photos you took at the scene and the dashcam footage. Once the car has been scrapped, it cannot be inspected again. Not every damaged car is accident damage, of course. If yours has simply stopped running after years of standing, see our non-runner collection page instead.
Paid by bank transfer, never cash
Paying cash for scrap cars is illegal under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. We pay by bank transfer when we collect.

Questions people ask
Do you buy accident damaged cars?
Yes. We buy accident damaged cars whether they drive or not, collect them free and pay by bank transfer.
Can I scrap a car my insurer has written off?
Yes. If you kept the car as a buy-back, whether Cat S, Cat N or Cat B, you can scrap it with us.
What is the difference between Cat S and Cat N?
Cat S has structural damage and Cat N has non-structural damage. Both can be repaired and returned to the road.
Do you buy flood damaged cars?
Yes. We buy flood damaged cars and collect them from wherever they are within our area.
Can you collect a car with a wheel that won't turn?
Yes. We use dollies and skates so damaged cars can be loaded safely.
Does body damage lower the scrap price?
Usually not by much, because scrap value is based mainly on weight. Missing parts such as the engine or catalytic converter matter more.
